One tube of blood will be drawn from you at the lab center. Herpes Testing method can differentiate between the two different strains of the Herpes virus.
The Herpes STD screening is recommended if you believe you have been exposed to either the Herpes Type I or Type II virus within the past 6 weeks. Exposure occurs via unprotected sexual contact. The Herpes testing is recommended as part of your standard sexual health practices, especially if you have had unprotected sex with a partner that is infected.
We recommend waiting approximately 4-6 weeks following the potential exposure before taking a Herpes testing. The virus may be detectable in as little as three weeks following exposure, but results are more accurate after a 4-6 week window. We also suggest taking a subsequent follow-up screening three months after exposure to confirm the results.
If you have not recently been screened for other STDs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia or syphilis, we recommend you additionally undergo our Standard 5 Panel or our Complete 8 Panel.
