Hepatitis C testing is FDA approved and is one of the most reliable detection methods available.
The Hepatitis C testing is recommended if you were born between 1945-1965, if you had an organ transplant or blood transfusion before 1992, OR if believe you have been exposed to the Hepatitis C virus within the past 9 weeks. Exposure may occur via sexual intercourse or through the sharing of a needle. The Hepatitis C testing is recommended as part of your standard sexual health practices, especially if you have had unprotected sex with a partner that is infected. We recommend waiting approximately 8-9 weeks following the potential exposure before getting a Hepatitis C STD check. We also suggest taking a subsequent follow up screening three months after exposure to confirm that there is no active STD infection. Your hepatitis c testing lab visit will only take approximately 15 minutes
If you have not recently been screened for other STDs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia or syphilis, we recommend you additionally undergo our Standard 5 Panel or our Complete 8 Panel.
