The number of sexually transmitted diseases is rising at a high rate. Despite advanced health measures put in place, the situation is deteriorating. In fact, the chief Falls Community Medical Officer Dr. Jeniffer Tinguely points out that there is a major problem especially with the spread of these infections. The sad part of the story is that most people are not aware of the predicament. As a result, most people seem not to care about STD testing thus not concerned with the rise of STDs.

The main problem is that most people have disregarded testing, care, and treatment of such infections. Most people nurture the idea that certain STIs are not that bad and as a result, the infections keep spreading from one person to the other.

On the other hand, many people strongly believe that sexually transmitted infections can be treated easily unlike other diseases. Unaware of the fact that some for instance bacteria that cause gonorrhea have become adamant to antibiotic and have been the case for a long time now. Sometimes back medical practitioners thought that they had done enough in the case of syphilis until it proved to be more serious than before. Despite the fact that these sexually transmitted infections can be treated its imperative that people be more cautious as they may cause discomfort or even infertility and sexual malfunction.

Health experts are saddened by the fact that some of the bacteria i.e. gonorrhea among others pose a big challenge due to resistance to antibiotics. Their main concern is what they are supposed to do in case other bacteria follows suit. That would only mean that the patient would be given pain-relieving tablets after which they would wait for the infection to heal on its own.

What can we do to reduce STD Spread?

One can be 90% safe from STDs if they are not having sexual intercourse. You may be wondering where the 10% is. The truth is one can still contract an STI even without having sexual intercourse. There is a great possibility. To make sure that you are completely safe regular testing is necessary. Just in case you have an infection, early treatment and care will bring all the difference.

However, the biggest percentage of common STDs is contracted sexually. Note that condoms are not 100 percent safe so you can never be so sure. In that case, most people who abstain from sex have lower chances of having an STI.

To sum it up, sticking to one sexual partner is the best option to at least reduce contracting and spreading of the sexually transmitted diseases.
