Modern genital warts because our ancestors

HPV is a pollen-shaped virus that is very tiny in size. When one is infected with Human HPV, this virus will barrow itself into the skin, especially in the mucus membrane hence causes cancer and genital warts. In many cases, the infection may clear up on its own.

But there are other cases where this virus can persist. In such situations, HPV may live in the body of its host for many years and in turn, it may be spread to other individuals through unprotected sex. When this happens, it may cause cancer in the cervix for ladies. It may also course cancer in the throat or anus for both genders.

Evidences of Neanderthals

According to new evidence, there is a suggestion that Neanderthals or Denisovan (one of the extinct near-human species) is the blame for introducing a variant of human HPV, especially the introduction of HPV16 which is a cancer- causing strain.

Another recent evidence in genetics shows that human beings, Neanderthals and Denisovans had sex several times in the history. “During those periods, we there was nothing like safe sex and every disease could be transmitted” said by Ville Pimenoff a genetic researcher from Catalan Institute of Oncoloy in Spain. Besides, there were no STD testing done to them. Human beings may have contacted genital warts from Neanderthals, Pimenoff and his colleagues made a conclusion in a news paper in a journal entitled “Molecular Biology and Evolution.”

This evident is said to be inferred as there exist no actual samples of HPV to be compared in both fossils of human and Neanderthals. This is because HPV does not infect both. Therefore, the trio scientists apply the use of both DNA and math. The instructions of life are contained in the DNA, which is also known to be a historical volume. Mutations are regularly accumulated in a predictable manner by all gene polls, whether in human or viruses.

The virus evolution can be traced backwards by analyzing strains of HPV around the world and encoding texts in the DNA. “We can estimate how much time evolution would have needed to create the current generic diversity” says Pimenoff. Ones the timeline for evolution of HPV is realized, a comparison between the timeline of what is known about human evolution can be carried out. And these two stories much up.

The History of DNA evidence

The ancestors of both Neanderthals and Denisovans ancestors left Africa hundred years ago before human. Both the ancestors and human ancestors got exposed to similar HPV virus ancestor.

On their separation, both Neanderthal and Denisovans developed Human HPV 16 a. Human ventured out of Africa around 60,000 years ago and encountered Neanderthals which hosted HPV. Humans then acquired what is known to be HPV 16 a after having sexual intercourse with the Neanderthals.
