What is STD

STD or sexually transmitted diseases are infections,  which can be  acquired and transmitted through sexual or vaginal intercourse, oral sex, and anal sex. Anyone, who has engaged in unprotected and safe sex or sexual contact is at risk of acquiring and transmitting STD. Persons who are or with multiple sex partners, sex workers and do not or have not use any protections or practice safe sex are at a higher risk of transmitting the virus.

Individuals who are involved in a high-risk sexual behavior and with early symptoms are needed to be checked for the presence of the virus. If it is not treated or detected at an early stage, the infections may be a severe and long-term consequences and can be to their sexual partners, and worst it may lead to death. Some STDs has no known treatment. But there are a lot of methods which hinders or slow down the further development of the virus. One of the most important ways in treating the virus is to know what is STD, and its symptoms.

STD and its symptoms and treatments

Symptoms of sexually transmitted diseases varies on the type of infection. But there are common symptoms, which can easily be detected and be observed. It includes itching around genitalia and discharge from the vagina or penis. The infected person can also observe blisters that turn into scabs and flesh colored-warts around their genitals. Pain can also be experienced in and around the anus, during sexual intercourse or while in urinating.

In a hepatitis infection, urine may appear dark and their feces may become light and chalky in color. Their nail beds, eyes, and skin may become yellowish. Possible weight loss, night sweats, tiredness and recurrent infections may also be at present to an infected person. General symptoms of STD includes fever, weakness, swollen lymph nodes and body or muscle aches.

Preventing it for further transmission is the primary way to the treatment. One of the most effective ways to prevent STD is to avoid sexual activities or any form of any sexual contact which can lead to the transfer of sexual fluids from an infected partner to another. One may also use proper protections, condoms, for example, against the virus. Even though condoms reduce the risk of acquiring or transferring the virus, it doesn’t guarantee your safety.  Early consultation may also help in determining STD symptoms and its possible treatment.

The most important way it battling such virus from spreading is through education. Educating young people, and persons with an active sexual behavior, of STD, symptoms, and how can it be prevented. Knowing what is STD  can raise an awareness and early possible steps to stop it from spreading.
